The State of Georgia Office of the Attorney General serves as the chief legal officer for the state. It works to uphold the law, provide legal guidance to government agencies, and protect Georgia’s citizens.
In their fight against gang activity and child trafficking, the State of Georgia’s Office of the Attorney General faced a significant hurdle in managing and securely sharing digital evidence across 29 law enforcement agencies in the state. Digital evidence was stored on physical media such as flash drives, hard drives, and CDs. This made evidence management cumbersome and posed a security risk, as physical storage devices can be lost, damaged, or accessed by unauthorized personnel.
Additionally, sharing sensitive information with other agencies in compliance with the Statewide Data Sharing Policy and Georgia Open Records Act was challenging. The Attorney General’s Office needed a way to securely organize, share, and access digital evidence from a centralized platform while ensuring compliance with legal requirements.
The State of Georgia Office of the Attorney General turned to VIDIZMO to modernize and streamline its approach. VIDIZMO Digital Evidence Management System (DEMS) provided a centralized repository that allowed the office to securely store digital evidence in one place. Instead of relying on physical storage devices, all evidence was uploaded into the platform, organized into cases, and made readily retrievable through the system's AI-powered search.
Security was a primary concern, and VIDIZMO’s solution addressed this with role-based access control, allowing administrators to assign specific permissions based on each user’s role within law enforcement agencies. Additionally, the system's audit logs ensured full transparency by tracking who accessed the files and what changes were made. To prevent tampering, the platform included tamper verification, and it provided location and domain restrictions to ensure that only authorized personnel from specific agencies could access the files. Moreover, to meet the legal requirements of the Georgia Open Records Act, VIDIZMO offered audio/video redaction to hide sensitive information before sharing files publicly.
What made VIDIZMO particularly powerful for the Attorney General’s Office was its AI capabilities, including automatic tagging and keyword and label detection, which allowed for quick and easy retrieval of evidence. Law enforcement agencies could annotate videos and documents to highlight crucial evidence, making collaboration between the 29 agencies seamless and more efficient.
VIDIZMO DEMS is a CJIS-compliant, AI-powered digital evidence management system that enables secure ingestion, storage, management, analysis, and sharing of digital evidence.
